What Is FIRST?

FIRST stands for For Inspiration and Recognition in Science and Technology. FIRST is a world-wide program in which over twenty countries are involved in. It relishes students' interests in Science and Technology by assigning Robotics objectives. FIRST assigns a yearly challenge every January wherein teams are subjected to build a robot from scratch in about a month. The amount of time clearly makes the challenge even more difficult. Teams are also subjected to gaining monetary means for the robot build and tools. Therefore, teams get sponsors and find ways to raise fundraise. Overall, FIRST's mission is clear; flourish the program to other peers, portray "Gracious Professionalism", and to dilgently work hard to achieve success.

Gracious Professionalism is part of the ethos of FIRST. It's a way of doing things that encourages high-quality work, emphasizes the value of others, and respects individuals and the community.
